The Dance Form KATHAK
Kathak is one of the great classical dance forms of North and North Western part of India that has spellbound the connoisseurs of dance all over the world through the stunning rhythmic compositions as well as the touching expressional aspect along with the all encompassing approach that goes beyond the barrier of language, cast, religion and country. Etymologically the word Kathak comes from ‘Katha’ or story and the word Kathak means a story teller. In its root form Kathak used to communicate to people at large, the religious and moral truths of life, substantiated by stories and interspersed with music and myths, dance, performed in a particular style and order.
This gradually blossomed into an art form full of classicism of high order, propagated, developed, remodeled and perfected with passage of time accommodating itself with the political, social and cultural changes of life.
